Political scientist Cristian Preda, a university professor, believes that the most important project presented by President Klaus Iohannis, “Educated Romania”, does not have the support of the actors involved in the education process, because those who created it limited themselves to “bureaucratic language”. “, which the teacher notes at the level of power

Preda claims that President Iohannis does not enjoy the support of the academic or school environment, he points out that the head of state “doesn’t really have friends today – of course, in terms of form, they welcome him at various festive events, people are polite – but the discontent is enormous “.

Asked on the Insider Politic show whether Romania is more educated eight years after the election of Klaus Iohannis as president, Professor Cristian Preda says no.

“No. Unfortunately, President Iohannis did not manage to form a majority either in the universities, the environment that I know better, or in the rest of the environment, high schools or regular schools, that would support the changes in education. He did not know how to do it, and today he has few friends – of course, according to the form, they are received at various holidays, people are polite – but the dissatisfaction is huge. And since no one understood what Klaus Iohannis wanted, that is, the report after seven years called “Educated Romania” was not a readable report, it was some kind of bureaucratic, vague report that… it’s not clear where you want to get it from,” Christian Preda told Prima Tv’s Insider Politic show.

Preda notes the slowness with which the promised reforms in the education system are carried out, as well as the “bureaucratic language” used in the relevant ministry, in the school inspectorates in the districts, the language through which the message related to education “did not pass” in society, and “people don’t know what tomorrow’s school will look like.”

“On the other hand, there is a significant slowdown. You see, it took the president seven years to make the “Educated Romania” report, he promised that in three months he would have laws on education on the table of the government, and since then it has been a year and a half. The problem is that what I imagined might once happen has also not happened, namely actually discussing the report presented in the summer of 2021, for example, with scientists from at least 10 of the most important universities, as well as talking to the top 10 high schools big cities in Romania, we could get support for some ideas because there are things the school is waiting for. I thought that if you had patience, you could get that kind of support. Not received. Klaus Iohannis and those who supported him, Mrs. Deka, a former councilor, today a minister instead of Sorin Kimpeanu, these people preferred to keep everything in a strictly bureaucratic register, that is, to use language on the verge of intelligibility, an expert who formalizes things so much that none of the actors anymore doesn’t understand,” adds Christian Preda.

Christian Preda also notes that if earlier parents encouraged their children to study abroad, now more and more families are sending their children to secondary schools in other countries. He shows that the situation related to education reforms is regrettable, especially in the context when the president comes from this system and promised reform not in energy, but in an industry he knows.

“Distrust in the system has become so great that we have found ourselves in a terrible dead end, and instead of opening up to reforming voices, minds, energy from secondary schools, from comprehensive schools, from universities, Yohannis and his ministers hide in their offices and do not they even give some readable texts, even some explanations. I feel that the lack of interest of the governors has increased under this generous name of an educated Romania,” says Professor Cristian Preda.
