Vladimir Putin will travel to Donbass “at the right time”, the Kremlin said on Saturday, as the Russian president has not yet visited the region of eastern Ukraine, which he annexed in late September but is in full control of without his army, AFP reported.

“At the right time, of course (such a visit) will take place. This is a region of Russia,” said the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmytro Peskov, in response to a question about Putin’s possible visit to Donbas.

In September, the pro-Russian leaders of four Ukrainian regions – Donetsk, Luhansk (both in the east), Kherson and Zaporizhia (in the south) – “officially asked” Vladimir Putin to include the respective territories in the Russian Federation, after – said annexation referendums, qualified as ” farce” by Kyiv and, practically, by the entire world community.

Putin officially formalized the annexation of four Ukrainian regions by signing “alliance treaties” with Russia on September 30.
