Cyprus Ministry of Foreign Affairs: development without essence and content
In a statement following the summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Cypriot Democracy notes that during the work of the Synod, Turkey proposed to change the Charter of the Organization in such a way as to allow the participation of “persons” with observer status.
As noted in the relevant message, on the basis of the Organization’s Charter, only internationally recognized and sovereign states participate either as full members or with observer status.

“Given the refusal of the remaining member states to accept the inclusion of a separatist pseudo-state entity in observer status, Turkey has proposed amending the charter to also provide for the participation of unrecognized ‘entities’,” the statement stated, emphasizing that: “The fact that Turkey itself promoted and chose to accept the downgrading of the role of the pseudo-state as an “organization” rather than as a “state”, proves the obvious. That is, not a single state in the international community, nor the Turkic states, accept or recognize any legal or international status for the separatist entity of the so-called “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”. Therefore, any attempt by Turkey to present the event in question as a victory is nothing but a meaningless and meaningless development of events. By his actions, he managed to secure the status of an observer in the category of “subjects” for the pseudo-state, and this, of course, subject to the ratification of the new charter by the member states of the Organization.”
“We also note with interest the relevant public statements of the President of Kazakhstan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, where both expressed their countries’ support for international law and the need to respect the Sovereignty, Independence and territorial integrity of all states. It is obvious that Turkey’s dead-end policy of granting the status of sovereign equality to a pseudo-state and its insistence on an equal international status has been and remains fruitless,” the Cypriot Foreign Ministry concludes in a statement.
