Energy Minister Virgil Popescu said on Wednesday night that he was doing his “job in the ministry” by asking who would be interested in replacing the energy minister before winter, News.ro reported.

“I would only ask a rhetorical question: who is interested in changing the minister of energy before winter, when a difficult winter is on the way? I think no one,” he told Digi24.

“I think I’m doing my job in the ministry. I believe that I am doing my job in the ministry and we have managed to direct Romania’s energy sector in a good direction, because I believe that for 20 years there has been no investment in Romania. We managed to start investments,” said Virgil Popescu.

When asked if Prime Minister Nicolae Chuke was satisfied with his performance, the Energy Minister replied: “I think you should ask the Prime Minister.”

Also on Wednesday, when asked if he felt he was a target of government reshuffles, the energy minister said he only feared God.

Virgil Popescu “thinks a lot” about the measure proposed by the PSD

He also stated that “we are thinking a lot about taxation of the entire chain of production, intermediation and supply”, the PSD proposal.

Another PSD proposal is to regulate the price for domestic consumers after the expiration of the one-year cap, with the possibility of an extension until 2025.

Such a measure would mean lower prices for the general public, but higher prices for non-household consumers, from small and medium-sized businesses to factories, leading to higher prices for their products.

That is, we will pay less for energy, and more for other products.
