“Sometimes I hear voices from Romania or other countries that, intentionally or not, promote Russian propaganda narratives, asking: ‘Why are you helping Ukraine and Ukrainian citizens?’, ‘Why are you not helping Romania and not Ukraine?’ My answer is strong and clear: if Ukraine is defeated, the security of Romania, the security of Romanian citizens and Euro-Atlantic security will be at risk. Therefore, it is in the strategic interests of Romania and all EU member states to fully support Ukraine in order to win this war unleashed by Russia against our neighbor,” Bohdan Aurescu said before the meeting of EU foreign ministers.

At the same time, the head of diplomacy from Bucharest stated that “currently, about 2.7 million tons of grain from Ukraine have already passed through Romania.”

Bohdan Aurescu also said that during the meeting of European diplomacy he would express “firm support for the new package of sanctions against Russia.”
