The announcement of his participation, published last week by the tabloid TMZ, caused controversy, Johnny Depp has been considered persona non grata in Hollywood in recent years due to accusations of domestic violence by his ex-wife Amber Heard.

Olly Alexander, lead singer of British band Years and Years and a former ambassador for the brand, has distanced himself, saying he “will no longer wear” clothes designed by the singer.

Neither Rihanna nor Amazon have commented on the matter. But many fans criticized the singer’s decision on social networks with the hashtag #DitchDepp. Some netizens reminded Rihanna that she was also the victim of a beating by Chris Brown in 2009, with whom she was in a relationship at the time.

But others came to the American actor’s defense, pointing out that he had won a defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard.

She appealed the decision in July, previously saying she did not have the necessary amount to pay Depp the court-ordered damages.
