​Raiffeisen Bank Romania and Junior Achievement (JA) Romania are launching Eco-nomy for your community, a new educational initiative that supports high schools to raise students’ awareness of environmental issues specific to their community.

• “Economics for your community” is a new initiative launched by Raiffeisen Bank Romania and Junior Achievement (JA) Romania to encourage students to adopt the attitude of responsible consumers or future community leaders oriented towards sustainable actions.

• In this way, secondary schools can benefit from educational resources for classroom activities, as well as financial support for initiating and managing projects for sustainable community development.

The project offers an integrated approach that thus promotes education for sustainable development and the environment applied learning: online course, available for free on the JA Learn™ platform to build specific knowledge and skills as well as the possibility of receiving financial support to carry out activities that contribute to the responsible management of resources within the school or the improvement of learning conditions (equipment of laboratories/auditoriums, equipment, software, etc.).

High schools from all over the country can join the project until May 10 Economy for the communityyourbyorganization classroom activities case studies or teamwork exercises that help students understand the meaning of specific concepts such as the product life cycle, the 9R principle, the ecological footprint, the green economy – and registration of at least one projectdesigned by the team to highlight community-based environmental solutions and the ability of young people to become agents of change in their communities.

The best projects proposed by secondary schools will be determined at the end of May after the jury process and will receive financial support in the total amount of 61,000 lei.

Launched in 2010, the partnership between Raiffeisen Bank Romania and JA Romania has so far offered free activities, resources and learning kits to develop financial planning skills to 269,360 students and more than 7,700 teachers, and 42 secondary schools have received funding to improve learning conditions and access online – education
