Environment Minister Mircea Fecet announced on Wednesday in the government that he does not want to make layoffs due to the reorganization of the ministry and subordinate institutions demanded by Prime Minister Çolaku to cut costs. “No one should lose their bread, just as I don’t want any person to find themselves in a situation where they come home with less money, of course, for the same job,” Feshe said.

According to him, an emergency order on the organization of the ministry’s work is currently being prepared.

  • “There will be only one entity that will regulate, issue notifications, environmental agreements, as well as one entity that will do environmental control. We have 7 enterprises that are going to be reorganized from subordinates, and none of them will escape reorganization.” said Mircea Feshe.

On the other hand, the minister says that there will be no layoffs.

  • “No one should lose his bread. We are looking to reorganize in a way that streamlines the administrative process without laying people off, just as I don’t want anyone to find themselves in a situation where they come home with less money, of course, for the same job.
  • When we reduce management positions, those people who go to lower or management positions will be paid according to the salary of the position.” said the minister.

Feshe: The Ministry of Ecology has hundreds of management positions

The minister said that he would make “a very ambitious reduction also at the level of dignitaries, management positions, at the level of subordinate organizations, but the process of digitalization of the ministry is more important.”

  • “If we talk about management positions and subjects of a legal entity, then we have 72 such positions, namely directors of legal entities, high-ranking persons, presidents, vice-presidents, chief commissioners, etc.
  • If we talk about the total number of management positions in the Ministry of Natural Resources, we are talking about several hundred, but I can tell you that I will be one of the first ministries that will come up with a concrete proposal for reorganization and streamlining of activities.”, Mircea Fecet said without saying how many management positions he would cut.

The Ministry of Economy cuts 35 management positions without layoffs

The Ministry of Economy will begin the restructuring process demanded by Prime Minister Çolaku to cut costs, 35 management positions will be cut without layoffs.

“There are more support services than directorates that shape state policy. When you have less than 600 people to have almost 5%, 29 people in HR, that’s not right. There is a disparity somewhere,” Economy Minister Radu Oprya said on Wednesday.
