​The procedure for selecting members of the Hidroelectrica Directorate has reached a dead end, as some of the politically supported individuals are not included in the short lists, HotNews.ro reports. Surprisingly, some political favorites did not make it to the short lists, while company specialists not affiliated with any party scored higher. In the period from October 17 to October 20, according to the calendar, interviews were supposed to take place with those who made it to the short list, but even until this moment (October 19) invitations have not been sent to the candidates.

According to HotNews.ro, there is pressure at the political level to expand the shortlists to include those who have been rejected so that they can get to the interview stage, where twists and turns can happen.

Which of the major political candidates did not make the shortlist?

HotNews.ro reported how Hidroelectrica’s executive appointment process was blocked because Dragos Stefan Roibou, chief of staff to Minister Sebastian Bourduis and a business partner of the Bourduis family, was not on the short list. Roybu wanted to take the position of investment or administrative director, but did not get the required score.

Dragos Štefan Rojbou is the chief of staff of Minister Sebastien Bourduis, but he seems to be close to the family. According to Termene.ro, Dragos Štefan Rojbu owns the company Dynamic Energy Systems SRL together with the minister’s sister Medalina Ana Burduja in equal shares. This company has been inactive since 2016 and was revived on September 13, 2023.

According to HotNews.ro, the situation is even more complicated, as not only Roibu is a political favorite who did not get the desired position, but also other candidates. One of them would be Corina Popescu, the former head of Electrica, who is strongly supported by former Prime Minister Mihai Tudose. Corina Popescu wanted to get the highest position in the directorate – the position of general director, but she would be satisfied with the position of operations director.

Along with the SIE reserve general, he controls another former Electrica boss and shareholder in Fratelli, a company that has just received an energy supply license, Profit.ro reports. Swift Spot SRL is the name of the company and is fully owned by Swift Energy SRL, a consulting firm founded in September 2022 and associated with Silviu-Bogdan Nicolae, Corina Popescu, Christian Busch and Nicolae Merjani, each of whom holds 25% of the capital .

Even Mihai Dari, former CFO of Nuclearelectrica and former CFO of Electrica, was not shortlisted as he sought the post of CFO, although he was supported by PNL. Another PNL-backed candidate who wanted the CFO position but was not shortlisted was Julian Cristian Bosoanca, a close associate of ex-minister Virgil Popescu, former president of Electrica’s board of directors.

Who are the main candidates for the shortlist?

Bohdan Badya, the current president of the directorate, was nominated for the position of general director by Karoli Borbely, a former member of the supervisory board of Hidroelectrica. Karoli Borbeli would have the best chance as he has the political support of Prime Minister Marcel Čolaku through his family ties to a businessman from Buzău. Karoli Borbeli is married to the daughter of Ionel Gaga, a businessman from Buzău who is close to the prime minister. The newspaper Libertatea wrote a lot about these family relationships.

Bohdan Badya also applied for the position of investment director, where he has more chances.

Marian Fetitsa, head of the accounting department of Hidroelectrica, would have the best chance for the position of financial director. The list will also include Petronel Chiriac, a former member of Hidroelectrica’s Directorate, supported by Remus Borza, the court administrator who brought the company out of bankruptcy, a former parliamentarian and adviser to former prime ministers Nicolae Chuke, Florin Kitsu, Ludovic Orban and Viorica Dencile. .

Marian Bratu, an engineer who has been a member of the Hidroelektrica board since 2017, applied for the position of operations director, but there are other specialists on the list, for example, the chief engineer of the Karansebesh HPP branch.

Radu Konstantin, manager of Hidroelectrica’s trading department, qualified for the position of administrative director with great chances.

Selection conditions for Hidroelektrica

Immediately after the entry of Hidroelectrica to the stock exchange, a big race for the head of the company began, the procedure for selecting candidates for the position of a member of the board of directors began. Application files had to be sent by September 11, 2023. The procedure is carried out with the support of Arc Consulting SRL.

According to the announcement published by the company, the recruitment and selection process, which takes place in accordance with the provisions of GEO 109, is aimed at identifying, hiring and selecting the most suitable candidates for the 5 (five) positions of members of the Hydroelectric Directorate, namely:

1. General director – president of the directorate (– general director, general director)

2. Chief financial director CFO

3. Chief Operating Officer (COO)

4. Chief Investment Officer CIO

5. Director of administrative and technical support (Chief Administrative Officer CAO).

Among the mandatory conditions that must be fulfilled are:

• Higher education corresponding to the position applied for
• Total work experience of at least 7 years
• Professional experience of at least 5 years in management positions in the field typical of the position for which they applied
• Knowledge of the Romanian language – advanced level.
• Knowledge of the English language is at least at an intermediate level.
• There are no criminal records or tax records.
• The state of health corresponds to the position
