The average costs of employers per employee increased in 2022 to 6,426 lei/employee (10.8% more compared to 2021), the National Institute of Statistics reported on Friday. These costs are high in several European countries, but they do not necessarily come from high levels of net wages, and especially from high social insurance and health care contributions. The wages of German workers are not much higher than those of Americans. But the total cost of labor for one German worker is much higher than in America.

Average monthly expenses increased in all sectors of the economy, INS representatives also say, the most significant growth was observed in hotels and restaurants (+20.3%), energy production and supply (+15.4%), trade (+14.7%), respectively, agriculture, forestry and fishing (+14.4%).

The smallest increase in average monthly expenses compared to last year was recorded in the sphere of health care and social assistance (+1.0%).

In order to support certain sectors of the economy, the state budget provided additional payments to the employer for time not worked (in case of technical unemployment at the employer’s initiative, temporary reduction of working hours, child care in case of temporary closure). educational units), respectively, to stimulate employment through (re)employment of certain categories of people (for example: graduates, unemployed).

Compared to the previous year, the share of these transfers in total labor costs (direct costs and indirect costs) was significantly lower (0.1%), with moderate fluctuations by type of economic activity.

Thus, the largest share of transfers from the state budget in total labor costs was found in the hotel and restaurant business (0.8%), followed by entertainment, cultural and recreational activities (0.2%).

Compared to the average for the economy, the average monthly expenses are significantly higher in the types of economic activities: information and communication (+97.1%), financial mediation and insurance (+71.1%), production and supply of electricity and thermal energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+64.8%), extractive industry (+54.3%), health care and social assistance (+26.1%), professional, scientific and technical activities (+24.1%), respectively, public administration (+22.9%).

The most relevant values ​​of the average monthly cost below the average for the economy were recorded in the economic activity of hotels and restaurants (-42.9%), other types of services (-36.0%), transactions with real estate (-24.7%). , construction (-24.1%), respectively, administrative and support services (-21.8%).
