
The National Bank of Romania (BNR) posted a profit of 1.08 billion lei in 2022, down 46% compared to 2021, according to a published report.
“After reflecting expenses on December 31, 2022 with unfavorable differences from revaluation to market value of securities denominated in foreign currency and with revaluation of certain holdings in foreign currency, the final financial result achieved on December 31, 2022 was a profit of 1,082 billion lei, which is 46 percent (-933.1 million lei) lower than recorded in the previous year (2.015 billion lei),” the document states.
In accordance with the law, the main purpose was the share of 80% of the bank’s net income coming to the state budget, which is 865.87 million lei.
In addition, an amount of 129.72 million lei was allocated to increase the bank’s statutory reserves (which is 60 percent of the profit remaining after deducting the share of 80 percent of net income allocated to the state budget).
The remaining profit in the amount of 86.484 million lei should be distributed in 2023.
