Sorana Kirstya, Ana Bohdan and Jacqueline Christian will play at WTA Cluj-Napoca

In addition to Kirstea (36 WTA), Ana Bohdan (61 WTA) and Jacqueline Christian (133 WTA), participants of both editions of the Transylvania Open, also announced their presence.

“We are very excited to enjoy the Transylvania Open again this year. We fought really hard to keep this tournament in Cluj, because initially the WTA representatives announced the return of Chinese tournaments to the competition calendar.

And this would be the end of the history of the competition, which was a great success both with the public and with the players, who recognized us as the best WTA 250 tournament in the world.

All these evaluations motivated us and we were finally able to find a solution to continue. So we are waiting for tennis fans from Romania in as many as possible in Cluj at the Transylvania Open on October 16-22.

Especially since we have valuable players from our country who have already informed us that they want to participate in the tournament: Sorana Kirstea, Ana Bohdan and Jacqueline Christian. We are waiting for a new strong competition and an enchanting tournament” – Patrick Churchilldirector of Transylvania Open, quoted by News.ro.

Matches will be played on hard indoors at the BT Arena, starting with two days of qualifying on October 14. In this third tournament, 16 players will play in qualifiers, 32 players will compete in singles and 16 teams will compete in doubles.

At stake will be 280 WTA points and $259,000 in prizes. The first winners of the competition were Anette Kontaveit (2021) and Anna Blinkova (2022).
