
Lucian Geius has resigned from the post of President of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF).
Heyyush’s resignation as ANAF chairman comes in the context of the institution recently being criticized for a budget hole and for not showing good results in the assembly.
“Today I submitted my resignation from the post of president of the National Fiscal Administration. It has been an honor to lead this institution and I thank my colleagues for the professionalism and dedication they have shown this year,” he said.

According to him, in 2022, ANAF managed to collect 353.3 billion lei from the budget, which is 58 billion more than the previous year, and recover VAT worth 27.99 billion lei, compared to the previous year, when they were reimbursed only 24.34 billion. lei
“In addition, in April 2023, we sent 780 notices to individuals who cannot substantiate their income,” he added.
- “At the same time, in this assignment, 50,979 checks of taxpayers, legal entities and individuals were carried out, as a result of which additional amounts were determined for the total amount of 3,688.5 million lei. 25,274 documentary checks of tax payers, legal entities and individuals were carried out, as a result of which additional amounts totaling 554.2 million lei were determined.
“During the same period, my colleagues from the tax fraud department quantified/estimated the fiscal consequences – VAT, taxes, social and medical contributions, other receivables – for a total amount of 2471.1 million lei and handed over to the criminal investigation authorities 289 documents about damages totaling 621.8 million lei,” says Lucian Geiusz.
In addition, according to him, “according to the results of the documentary check, tax decisions were issued for 1,904 subjects, the amount of established obligations was 604.9 million lei.”
- I regret that I cannot complete the modernization process of ANAF and the projects started now, and I hope that the future president will continue the digitalization projects of the institution.

Lucian Geiusz said in early May that after his replacement, he “will go to Timisoara as a senior adviser to help taxpayers”.
“I will probably be the most requested person at ANAF to give advice to taxpayers. It’s because I’m suspended from work. This is my job. I lived with her. I know all the ins and outs,” Lucian Heyush also showed.

Lucian Heyush was appointed in May 2022 as the President of the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF), having vacated the post of State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance at the time.
