
CFR SA has announced a tender for the procurement of design and implementation services for the modernization of the 37-kilometer section between Caransebes and Poarta, on highway 100, Bucharest – Timisoara. Trains now take 41 to 56 minutes to cover this distance.
There are many sections with speeds below 50 km/h and very few with 80 – 90 km/h. After modernization, apparently in many years, passenger trains will be able to reach speeds of up to 160 km/h.
Two new tunnels will be built, the line will be doubled in some sections, two existing tunnels will be repaired, as well as bridges and footbridges along the route.
The estimated financial value of the contract is 1,331,527,894.38 lei without VAT, the source of financing is non-refundable external funds related to the Transport Program (PT) 2021-2027.
The public procurement provides for a duration of 72 months for the design and implementation of modernization works on the Poarta – Karansebesh section (lot 6), with a length of 37.160 km, from the new Poarta stop, km 436+887 to Karansebesh, km 474+046, the project development period is 12 months , performance of works – 60 months.
The main tasks of the railway, included in the modernization program on Lot 6, are:
- 37,160 km for a maximum speed of 160 km/h
- 7 stations/stops
- 18 bridges
- 65 floors
- 18 lower and upper passages
- 2 new double rail tunnels at the gates of 500m and 305m respectively
- 2 reconstructed tunnels – Fenesh and Tampa
- 10 railway crossings
- Two stopping points (PO) in Porta and Petrosnytsia
- civil structures at Teregova, Armeniș, Slatina Timiș, Vălișoara, Balta Sărată stations and Valea Timișului, Caransebeș bus stops
- doubling of lines on new sections PO Poarta – Teregova, Slatina Timis – Velišoara, Velišoara – Balta Serata
- modernization of signaling/centralization/telecommunications systems, automatic barriers at crossings, sound-absorbing panels
- European Road Traffic Management System (ERMS) throughout the site
- special nature protection works.
