CFR Infrastructura has announced that after an investment of 12.6 million lei, the Sinaia train station, the CF station, will be modernized, where many changes are needed. Among other things, the canopies, pedestrian tunnel, lighting devices and station square will be updated. The first step has been taken: the award documentation has been submitted to SEAP.

The modern station building dates back to 1913. Next to the station is a separate building that was built in 1886 for the use of the royal family. Later, between 1937 and 1938, a second royal station was built.

For several years, a place very visited by children – the Train Exhibition – worked on platform 1, but it has been closed for more than a year.

Sinaia station is one of the most beautiful in Romania, together with stations such as Suceava (Burdujeni), Vatra Dornei Băi, Băile Herculane, Curtea de Argeș, Arad, Cluj, Piatra Neamț and Râmnicu Sărat. Almost all of them need large-scale modernization.

What CFR SA says

The national railway company CFR SA announces that the tender documentation for the modernization of the Sinaia station has been submitted to the electronic public procurement system (SEAP) for review and confirmation for the public procurement of services for the development of the technical project and the execution of the works.

The estimated cost of the investment is 12,668,297.36 lei without VAT, the financing is carried out from non-refundable funds, through the Transport Program (PT) and from the state budget, and the duration of the contract will be 24 months, of which 6 months for the development of the technical project and 18 months for implementation works

The modernization of the CF Sinaia station is aimed at improving operating conditions and ensuring quality services for travelers, the main goal of the works is the reconstruction of the station building, with an emphasis on access areas – platforms, canopies, safety elements between lines, ramps -, but also places intended for public service, including a shopping area.

Specific goals within the technical project for the modernization of the CF SINAIA station will be aimed at the following works:

→ reconstruction of the passenger body and strengthening of the destroyed structural elements

→ replacement of sanitary and technical, heating and electrical installations, fire alarms

→ conditions for the access of people with disabilities

→ repair and strengthening of the roof and sewerage of two adjacent buildings – the Exhibition and the Official Salon on the railway theme;

→ restoration of the wear layer of the existing platforms, tactile and visual markings, as well as the railway crossing at the ends of the platforms

→ replacement of existing lighting devices with external LED lamps, reconstruction of existing fountain installations;

→ reconstruction of canopies on line 1 and intermediate platforms and replacement of fluorescent lamps with LED lamps

→ reconstruction of the pedestrian tunnel and placement of elevator platforms for people with musculoskeletal disorders

→ planning of the station area and areas adjacent to passenger buildings

→ a new thermal power plant in the center building

→ telecommunication installations, external fiber optic cable networks, structured internal cabling, traffic and operation safety installations, public warning/information installations, video surveillance installations, access control installations, including communication channels for the Integrated Information System (IRIS).
