Celin Matei, a director with more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, will take over from June 2023 Groupama, the largest insurer in Romania and leader of RCA after the bankruptcy of Euroins, the insurer announced on Wednesday.

Kelin Matei has held the position of Deputy General Manager of Groupama from 2011 to the present. He will take over as General Manager from François Costa, who will remain a member of Groupama’s Board of Directors and take up a new role within Groupama.

With over 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, Kelin Matei has coordinated several divisions within Groupama, including Non-Life Technical Division, Agricultural Insurance Underwriting Division, Pricing and Product Development Division, Life Technical Division, Health Insurance Division and Bancassurance Strategic Partnership .

He began his career in the insurance industry after graduating from ASE’s Department of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Mathematics.

At the end of the first 9 months of last year, Groupama was in first place in the Romanian insurance market with a share of 17.94%, and after the announcement of the bankruptcy of Euroins in March of this year, it moved to the first place in the RCA market as well.

The company provides insurance services to more than 1 million individuals and more than 80,000 companies.
