
Millions of voters across England will go to the polls on 4 May to cast their votes in the local elections, with the competition taking on added value as the latter is due to take place before the 2024 national elections. On 18 May local elections are also being held in Northern Ireland.
Keir Starmer’s Labor Party wants to do well to pave the way for a possible victory of their own in the 2024 general election.
As a reminder, according to polls (in this case the Politico poll), Labor maintains a lead of more than 15 percentage points (44-28%) over Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives.
Labor currently leads the polls by double digits, but party leader Keir Starmer faces doubts about his popularity.
On the other hand, Tory Rishi Sunak is believed to have restored some of the appeal lost to the Conservative Party in years past, under Prime Ministers David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.
