
The new car market in Europe grew by 29% last month and by 18% in the first quarter of the year, ACEA data show. Which brands have advanced the most. What leading brands look like. What happened to electric cars?
In March, 1.08 million new cars were sold in the EU, up from 844,000 in March 2022. In the first three months of this year, the market grew to 2.65 million units, up 410,000 from the first quarter of 2022. In Romania, the market grew by 28% to 37,000 units.
Gasoline cars account for 37.5% of the EU market, diesel cars – 14.5%, and fully electric cars – 13.9%. According to ACEA, hybrids occupy more than 30% of the market.
In the first three months, fully electric cars grew by 43% to 320,000 units. Gasoline car registrations increased by 19% to almost a million units. Diesel also increased by 0.8% to 400,000.
The largest automotive groups by market share in Europe: Volkswagen Group 25.7%, Stellantis 19.3%, Renault Group 10.8%, Hyundai Group 8.3%.
The best brands: Volkswagen 10.7%, Toyota 7%, Peugeot 6.1%, Renault 5.6%, Mercedes 5.6%, Skoda 5.5%, Dacia 5.2%.
The biggest growth: Alfa Romeo 153%, Tesla 88%, Land Rover 69%, Mazda 42%, Dacia 41%.
The brands that fell in price the most were: Mitsubishi -38%, Honda -30%, smart -13%.
