Volkswagen wants to release ten new electric models by 2026 and will focus especially on the Chinese market. Volkswagen has a plan of several tens of billions of euros for “electrification” and on Monday presented a kind of electric Passat, the model ID 7, which will have a maximum range of 700 km.

Volkswagen has been a laggard in the all-electric segment, but has started to recover rapidly from 2022, with all brands in the group accelerating the launch of electric models, with some only going electric after 2030.

The model is a kind of Passat in the world of electric cars, but with larger dimensions. ID.7 will arrive in showrooms at the end of 2023, the price has not yet been announced. In the category of voluminous electric sedans, the ID.7 still stands alone, without a direct competitor. It is larger than the Tesla Model 3 and smaller than the Tesla Model S.

In the coming years, one of the difficult goals will be the launch of a fully electric city model, which will cost from 20,000 euros.
