
Germany leads the EU in February in granting temporary protection to Ukrainians fleeing the war unleashed by Russia. This is a figure of 25,125 people, reports Eurostat.
In second place – Poland – 24,905, in third place – Czech Republic – 9,775, and in the next place – Romania – 7,920.
The largest share is children. In Germany, the number of those under 18 was 7,725, in Poland – 6,070, in Romania – 2,590, in the Czech Republic – 2,550.
Compared to January, the number of decisions on granting temporary protection to Ukrainians decreased in 19 out of 26 member states. The biggest decrease is observed in Poland (-3540), Germany (-3080), the Czech Republic (-2630) and Romania (-1035).
Also, the greatest growth is observed in Ireland (540) and Finland (520).
As for the total number of Ukrainians who have received temporary protection in EU countries, the largest number is in Germany – a little over 1 million, followed by Poland – 989,080 people.
Temporary protection of Ukrainians was introduced by the EU by decision (2022/382) of the Council of the European Union.
