Romanians received around 1,500 questions during the week to Eva, the virtual assistant on the online platform for switching electricity and natural gas suppliers, the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) announced on Friday. Since Friday, Eva has been using a new learning algorithm – ChatGPT.

ANRE announced on March 16 the launch of the virtual assistant “Eva”, which will advise Romanians on the use of the online platform dedicated to the change of energy supplier (POSF).

According to the cited source, since March 16, Romanians have sent approximately 1,500 questions to Eva, the virtual assistant, related to the use of the platform, the process of switching suppliers, contracts and general information about the energy sector.

ANRE also reports that starting today, “the performance of the virtual assistant Eva in terms of the accuracy of the answers provided, as well as its overall interaction with POSF users, has improved significantly, as it uses the new ChatGPT training algorithm provided by the well-known OpenAI platform.”

“Eva answers the received questions with high accuracy”

  • “The integration of the virtual assistant Eva with GPT makes it possible to answer POSF users’ questions, curiosities and even problems with high accuracy.
  • Thus, the answers provided are detailed, reliable and, if appropriate, the Eva virtual assistant refers to institutions capable of providing assistance to end users, if the questions being addressed relate to subjects in the field of activity of other institutions. Of course, the Eva virtual assistant is constantly being improved, but during tests we found that it answers the questions received so far with high accuracy.
  • In parallel, we centralize and analyze all questions asked by POSF users, so that through two learning methods (through the questions asked and through integration with ChatGPT) we can offer accurate and detailed answers to their queries. I also encourage POSF users to familiarize themselves with the user manuals and tutorials that detail how to access and use POSF,” ANRE President Dumitru Chirica was quoted as saying in a press release sent on Friday.

What is an online platform for switching electricity and natural gas suppliers

In October 2022, NARE implemented an online platform for switching suppliers of electricity and natural gas at the national level (POSF), which automates the process of switching suppliers.

According to the regulator, since the commissioning date of the POSF, network operators and suppliers of electricity and natural gas have been constantly uploading and updating metadata for consumption locations as well as for supply and network contracts.

According to ANRE data, regarding the degree of data loading, POSF currently has 15,501,303 points of consumption identified, of which 10,581,938 are for electricity and 4,919,365 for natural gas. Also, 102 electricity suppliers, 73 natural gas suppliers, 41 electric network operators and 35 gas network operators are currently registered on the platform.

In addition, there are 34,947 end customers who have opened a user account with POSF. (Photo: Dreamstime.com)
