There are encouraging reports about the development of this year’s tourist season in Greece, which come from the international tourism exhibition ITB 2023 in Berlin. Major travel agencies are reporting levels of bookings for this summer in Greek destinations, which in some cases even reach 50% of available packages.
This is despite the fact that most of them have increased partner hotels this year and therefore the number of nights available for sale.
“If you want to spend your holidays this summer in Rhodes, Kos, the Cyclades or Zakynthos, you should book as soon as possible,” Benjamin Jacobi, head of TUI sales in Germany, said at ITB 2023.
His boss, the head of TUI Deutschland, Stefan Baumert, even said that half of the available beds and air seats in such destinations had already been sold.
However, Antalya in Turkey and Mallorca in Spain are currently vying for the top spot among the most popular summer holiday destinations for Germans. The Greek Islands follow in third place, but they are followed by Egypt, the Canary Islands and Andalusia.
Greek destinations are very popular among Germans and British.
According to the head of Europe’s largest travel agency, CEO of TUI Group AG Sebastian Ebel, “we are seeing encouraging booking dynamics for the summer of 2023, especially in recent weeks.”
But also in the UK, TUI finds a great demand for holidays in Greece. It is for this reason that this year the group has added around 1,500 additional partner hotels in Spain and Greece, leading the way in sales for another year.
The high demand for Greece is also confirmed by the booking data of TUI rival travel group DER Touristik, which shows that our country is the third most popular short-to-medium-haul destination for Germans in 2023, and the numbers are sure to surpass previous ones. 2019.
According to what has been revealed so far in Berlin, DER Touristik’s bookings for this summer are moving almost double compared to last year and higher than 2019.
