Volkswagen will produce its smallest electric model in Spain from 2025, which will likely be called the ID 1 and will have the same dimensions as the popular Polo model. The most difficult thing is that the starting price is 20,000 euros.
The car will use the MEB First architecture, on which three other models will be built: a slightly larger one from Volkswagen and two others from Cupra and Skoda respectively.
They will all be built in Spain, where Volkswagen is also investing in a battery plant. In 2026, a larger crossover than the ID 1 called the ID 2all, whose estimated price starts at 25,000 euros, should also come off the assembly lines.
It will be difficult for Volkswagen that the starting price of the ID 1 is around 20,000 euros, especially since the battery costs several thousand euros, all components have become more expensive in recent years, and the German company must also make a profit. The fact that many cars of several brands will be produced will reduce production costs in general.
Whether the model will be called ID 1 or Polo is not yet known
It is possible that the car will have a 57 kWh battery, a range of 350 km, and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds.
Volkswagen sells electric models ID 3, ID 4, ID 5, ID Buzz Pro and, in some countries, e-Up! in Europe. The Volkswagen ID.3 Pro Performance model costs from 44,000 euros, and the ID Buzz Pro – 65,000 euros.
