Most of the hotels in Attica are concentrated in the center of Athens, where, unlike other areas, there has been a huge increase in their presence in recent years. In particular, hotel rooms in the central sector of Attica increased by 19% in 2022 compared to 2015, with the result that more than seven out of ten (72%) hotels in Attica, excluding the Argosaronic Islands, are concentrated in a few areas of the city. center.

This follows, among other things, from an analytical study carried out by the Athens Attica and Argosaron Hotel Association (EXAAA) in collaboration with GBR Consulting and Athens International Airport, which depicts the recovery of tourism in Attica after the shock caused by the pandemic.

In the center of Athens, areas teeming with hotels are the wider areas around Koukaki, Syntagma Square, Omonia and Monastiraki, which also coincide with areas of archaeological interest with significantly higher traffic.

A much smaller increase in hotel rooms between 2015 and 2022 was shown in the northern sector of Athens (+8%) and in the eastern part of Attica (+2%). On the contrary, the rest of Attica experienced a decline, with the greatest reflection occurring in the western sector of Athens (-37%) and Western Attica (-11%).
