On Thursday, the National Audiovisual Council (CNA) sanctioned a Romanian TV channel with two fines of 10,000 lei each and two public summonses for violating laws on objectively informing the public and ensuring a clear distinction between facts and opinions, as well as those regulating the duty the obligation to express the viewpoint of ethnic, religious or sexual minorities when presenting issues of public interest.

According to a CNA statement sent to AGERPRES, the Council analyzed the monitoring reports compiled by the special department based on the reports received and decided to impose a fine of 10,000 lei on Romanian Television for December 25. , the 2022 edition of the show “Special”, as well as for the show “RO la raport” from December 26, 2022, in which the guests were actor Dan Purich and businessman Gigi Bekali, during which the broadcaster violated the provisions of Art. 3 paragraph (2) of the Law on Audiovisual Means No. 504/2002, as well as Art. 64 par. (1) lit. a), b) from the Audiovisual Content Regulation Code.

The proposal was made by Valentyn Jukan, a member of CNA, who claimed in the case of the show with Dan Puric as a guest that he, without objecting or participating in the debate about the pros and cons of the European Union, “gets a scene” in which he makes statements against the European Union, “grossly falsifying” historical realities.

“On this show, Dan Purich is, I think, the most passionate in what he says. Therefore, the mix of opinions and statements, this time, is a very disproportionate mix in favor of opinions.
