
Damen Mangalia Shipyard (DSMa) in Romania, the group’s largest unit, announces that it is currently working on two HVDC (high voltage direct current) marine transmission projects, two superstructures for offshore platforms.
The two superstructures are under contract to Aker Solutions and work began last year, with the first project due to be delivered in the first half of 2023 and the second in the first quarter of 2023, with the start of erection and rigging. 2024 year.
Once completed, the HVDC platforms will go to the Aker Solutions site in Stord, Norway, where the HVDC equipment will be installed and commissioned before being delivered to the final destination, Damen said.
The HVDC platforms will then be delivered to the Sunrise Offshore Wind Farm located approximately 30 miles east of Montauk Point in Long Island, New York.
Damen says that within the framework of these projects, it is engaged in the construction of structures, surface protection, equipment, insulation, lighting, pipelines, local wiring and more, as well as the construction of transport networks.
In Romania, Damen Shipyards owns the Galați shipyard, where it continuously produces marine vessels, including military vessels, and in Mangalia, Damen owns the shipyard management and a minority stake, the majority shareholder being the Romanian state.
