• Legumes: These will be ‘broken down’ into 3 categories from the current general category, namely chickpeas, lentils and beans, so that supermarket ‘baskets’ should include all three products, not just one of them.

Among other things, beef is added.

In addition, from February 22, the “Lenten Basket” will begin to apply. This will include the following product categories: halvah, lean salads and frozen seafood. It is noted that already several existing categories of products that exist in the common “basket” are suitable for Lent. During Holy Week, the so-called “Easter basket” will also be used.

According to the prices announced yesterday, by the beginning of the 16th week of the implementation of the “household basket”, a decrease in prices was recorded for 51 out of 882 goods (5.78%), an increase in prices for 28 goods (3.17%), and for the remaining 803 goods. products (91.04%) prices remained at the same level. A slight decrease in the average value of the “basket” was recorded. The above was “noted” on Twitter by Development Minister Adonis Georgiadis, stating in his post: “The reverse course is beginning.”

This morning Minister of Development and Deputy Minister of Development Nikos Papathanasis will visit two supermarkets of the Masoutis and Market In chains.

Later, however, a press conference is expected to also announce fines imposed on supermarket chains for violating the obscene profits regulation.
