CAA: 76.3% increase in passenger traffic at airports

The total passenger traffic at the airports of our country showed an increase of +76.3% in the first month of the year compared to 2022 and +3.1% compared to 2019.

According to statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority, passenger traffic in January 2023 exceeded the corresponding months of 2022 and 2019.

In particular, according to the CAA, in the first month of the new year in Greece, the total number of passengers at Greek airports (arrivals and departures of foreign and domestic passengers) reached 2,202,735, compared to 1,249,387 in January 2022 and 2,135,674 in 2019. The statistics above show an increase in passenger traffic of +76.3% compared to 2022 and +3.1% compared to 2019.

In terms of flights (arrivals and departures of domestic and international aircraft), there were 22,176 flights in January 2023 compared to 18,218 in 2022 and 22,219 in 2019, with the air traffic index showing an increase of +21.7% compared to 2022 and a slight decrease of -0.2% compared to 2019.

The fact that there is a slight decrease in flights (January 2023 compared to January 2019), but an increase in passenger traffic, is due to the capacity and fullness of the aircraft.
