Social offer at the center of modern business

At the beginning of the new year, citizens around the world are facing multiple social and economic crises, and it is clear that today, more than ever, more and more vulnerable groups are in need of business support. After all, corporate purpose as a concept and social contribution as an act are now an integral part of the strategic planning of modern business. Companies that strive for longevity, today, as well as in appropriate times of crisis, must step up and support their local communities.

Coral, the official representative of the Shell brand in our country, is one of these pioneering companies. Company, with central message “We value life”implemented and continues to implement a number of actions aimed at giving back to society and offering help and support to people who really need it.

International Volunteer Day

At the end of November 2022, Coral employees were next to The Love Van at Asomata Square in the center of Athens to assist in the process of producing and distributing food to the homeless in need of feeding.

This action took place as part of the International Volunteer Day, established by the UN on December 5 each year in honor of volunteers around the world who have dedicated themselves to serving humanity, helping those in need in exchange for solidarity and gratitude.

Van of love“, this is the idea that was born by the athlete Lefteris Paraskevas, when in 2018 he volunteered to fight the devastating fire in Mati. The need for quick and immediate help inspired the idea of a vehicle that would have easy and quick access where needed.

Every cent counts

Continuing to support the local community, since the beginning of December, Coral has joined forces with the wise GREECE!.

wise Greece! is an award-winning non-profit movement that promotes the benefits of the Greek diet and the excellent products of Greek small producers around the world, and with the proceeds from their sale, buys basic food products to provide free of charge to children, homeless families and the elderly on the verge of poverty.

Coral, for its part, should make a significant contribution to a nationwide network of public touch points through the company’s allSmart rewards program. Thus, from December 12, 2022 to February 12, two companies “launch” the program.”1 cent it matterswhere Coral, for every reward transaction with an allSmart card at Shell stations, will support the work of wise GREECE! to supply our fellow human beings with the basic foodstuffs that need them.

In practice, Coral will count all the transactions that will take place during the campaign and multiply them by 1 cent to offer them to wise GREECE!. She, in turn, will direct the entire amount collected to support our fellow needy.

Emphasis on the social footprint of the business

Actions such as those described above reflect the reality of modern business, which has discovered that, despite the traditional definition of a business, its goal should not be only profit. Additional factors must be factored into the equation, as should the pulse of society. A society that has been through a lot in the past 15 years and is gearing up for another challenging year just around the corner.

In this way, businesses that have a positive social footprint, such as Coral, stand out and are seen as allies by the local community. Those enterprises that stood guard over citizens and society during difficult times will be remembered positively when the situation improves.
