Two young men from Shimon, Bran commune, were allegedly murdered on Monday by the man’s cousin, who is also a neighbor of the victims. A man was detained by investigators on suspicion of murder during a dispute over a plot of land on which the alleged perpetrator wanted to build a fence. The police also take into account possible mental disorders.

According to the representatives of the prosecutor’s office at the Brasov court, the man could have committed the crime because of disputes related to the plot of land, as well as because of possible mental problems, writes Agerpres.

“On the night of January 15-16, against the backdrop of an older conflict with his cousin and neighbor, the suspect armed himself with a knife and an ax and attacked – breaking the glass of one of the entrances in the house of spouses PAI and PNA, located in the city of Shimon. In the bedroom of spouses P., the accused inflicted several blows with a sharp object on the victims, who died as a result of the blows,” says the press release of the prosecutor’s office at the Brasov court.

The first prosecutor Adrian Radu explained that the criminal was identified after an investigation carried out by the police under the coordination of the prosecutor in the first half of Monday, after which a search warrant was obtained and, after this action, which the arrest of the suspect took place in the evening.

“The research revealed data and traces that lead to the solution, to a neighbor, a cousin of one of the dead, a man. The further investigation made it possible to obtain sufficient evidence for the initiation of a criminal case and the arrest of the suspect,” the first prosecutor, Adrian Radu, told the media.

The suspect is hiding in the attic of his house

The suspect in the crime was detained in the attic of his house, where he hid with a knife, but after a conversation with a police negotiator, he willingly came down.

According to the first prosecutor Adrian Radu, there are indications that the man may have mental problems, but this hypothesis is subject to verification.

“We have some clues, the prosecutor is analyzing whether the defendant’s mental problems were one of the reasons, (…) first of all, a check will be made to see if there is a medical history of the defendant,” said the quoted source.

The detained man is being investigated for domestic violence and aggravated murder, the prosecutor’s office at the Brasov court said.

The murdered man was 38 years old and worked as a paramedic at SMURD, and his wife was 32 years old and worked as a nurse at the Brasov Children’s Hospital. They were found dead by their relatives, who informed the police.

The couple’s home was adjacent to the murder suspect’s home, and the reason for the crime so far appears to have been a dispute over land on which the latter requested a fence be erected to demarcate the property, so there is also a civil suit in that sense. (Photo: Dreamstime.com)
