Government officials said the increase in the minimum wage would be significant, hinting that it would exceed the €751 level it was at before cuts began in the period before the memorandum was passed. Of course, closer to the real intentions of the government, but also to the “needs of both society and business” is the scenario of raising the minimum wage by at least 7.75% to 8%, as well as increasing pensions. This results in a new minimum wage close to €768–€770 (an increase from €55 to €57).
