Three new programs for 30,000 unemployed people start

Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7, three of the six programs of the Public Employment Service (DYPA), funded by 490 million euros from the Recovery Fund, will be activated and aimed at employing 68,000 unemployed, mostly young people, women, people. disabled and long-term unemployed who have difficulty finding work in high unemployment areas.

In particular, programs that run immediately, with the opening of the application platform tomorrow:

1. Job subsidy for 10,000 long-term unemployed people aged 45 and over in high unemployment areas with a total budget of €120 million. Funds up to 80% of salary and contributions for 18 months with an obligation to hold the position for 6 months. Priority will be given to green and digital economy enterprises.

2. Gaining work experience, upgrading skills and preparing 10,000 unemployed young people aged 18-30 to enter the labor market (budget 68 million euros). It is for 7 months and DYPA will pay beneficiaries a monthly compensation equal to the statutory minimum net wage with full insurance premiums and a portion of holiday gifts and vacation pay.

3. A work subsidy program for 10,000 unemployed people who face significant barriers to their integration or reintegration into the labor market, with a total budget of 112 million euros. 3,000 vacancies for unemployed people from special and vulnerable social groups (for example, people with disabilities, dependents, victims of gender-based violence or human trafficking), will be funded up to 75% of salaries and contributions for 24 months with an obligation to maintain the position for 8 months. The remaining 7,000 concern the unemployed who face serious barriers to their integration or reintegration into the labor market, it finances up to 75% of wages and contributions for 12 months with a commitment to hold the position for 4 months.

In the first months of 2023, 3 more programs to subsidize the work of 5,000 unemployed people aged 18-66 will be “launched” with a focus on the “green” economy and women, with a total budget of 50 million euros, advanced training – re-qualification and short-term employment for 15 000 unemployed (25-45 years old) with a total budget of 92 million euros, as well as pilot joint action programs (consultation, certified training and employment) in at least four cities in Greece. The first cycle concerns 17,750 unemployed people with a total budget of 45 million euros, while the programs will remain open until the budget is exhausted.
