
Kirstie Alley, a popular 80s comedienne, has died at the age of 71. The star’s children confirmed the news to People and Variety magazines.
The actress’ children, Lilly Price Stevenson and William True Stevenson, announced Monday night that the actress died of cancer.
The sad news was reported on her official accounts in social networks, where she published a statement from her children.
- “To all our friends around the world… We are saddened to inform you that our incredible, fragile and loving mother has passed away after a battle with recently diagnosed cancer. She was surrounded by family and fought with all her might, leaving us with her endless joy of life and whatever adventures awaited her.
- As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother,” said the actress’ two children.

Kirstie Alley was best known for her role as Rebecca Howe on NBC’s “Cheers,” about the lives of Boston bar patrons, for which she won a 1991 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, AFP noted.
She won her second Emmy Award for her portrayal of a single mother raising an autistic son in the 2020 film David to Madness.
Kirsty Alley also starred in the 1989 romantic comedy Hello Mommy Here Baby – and its two sequels alongside John Travolta.
Travolta paid tribute to the actress on Monday night by posting a photo of Christy Alley when she was younger on Instagram.
