A significant increase was recorded in mobile data usage during the first half of this year. According to the latest Teffient report, in the first six months of 2022, almost all of the 104 providers (whose data the company uses in its analysis) around the world recorded an increase in data (data) usage per SIM. In particular, according to the Swedish company Tefficient, which keeps track of the size of telecommunications companies, half of the providers monthly consumption per SIM-card exceeded 10 GB in the first half of the year.
In Greece, Vodafone, one of 104 companies included in the study, is not among the providers with 10 GB monthly data usage per SIM. However, it does record a significant increase in data traffic in size (per SIM per month) to around 5GB from just over 4GB for all of 2021. Thus, in the survey, Greece, along with Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, are among the markets with the lowest level of data usage. Of the specific countries, however, Germany and Greece show the highest growth rates in terms of data usage, at 44% and 41% respectively.
Greece is among the European countries where providers have the highest revenue per gigabyte, according to a survey conducted by Sweden’s Tefficient.
However, despite the increase in consumption, the cost of data usage in Greece has fallen below 1 euro per gigabyte, according to the National Telecommunications and Postal Commission (EETT) data for 2021. In 2015, the corresponding amount was just over 8 euros. Euro.
At the same time, according to Tefficient, Greece, along with Norway, the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland, is among the European countries where providers have the highest income per gigabyte. To come to this conclusion, analysts take into account Vodafone Greece’s revenue, which for the first half of 2022 is estimated at 4.1 euros per GB, down 16.3% compared to all of 2021 to 4.9 euros.
Giorgos Stephanopoulos, CEO of the Union of Mobile Telecommunications Companies (EEKT), previously reported to K commenting on cost cuts, “although costs are rising and impacting telecommunications, this sector is the only one that shows deflationary pressure with prices constantly falling.”
