The amount provided this year will be higher compared to last year due to the increase in the calculation base. In particular, the allowance for each recipient will be calculated by multiplying the base amount of 350 euros (out of 300 euros last year) by a subsidy factor of 0.12 to 1.62 (so-called degree days, depending on the coldness of the area), which determined for the locality in which his main place of residence is located. The amount resulting from the above multiplication will be increased by 20% for each dependent child of the beneficiary, for example. for each beneficiary permanently residing in the municipality of Athens, where the subsidy coefficient is 0.43, the allowance will be calculated as follows: 350 euros x 0.43 = 150.5. For each dependent child of this beneficiary, the amount of EUR 150.5 will be increased by 20%. Therefore, if he has one child, the allowance will be 180.6 euros, if he has two children, 210.6 euros, and so on.

The new decision of the Ministry of Finance will provide that the new income limit for granting the benefit is 16,000 euros for unmarried and 24,000 euros for married, an amount that increases by 3,000 euros for each protected child. On the contrary, the property criteria will remain unchanged, namely 180,000 euros of the value of real estate for single persons and 300,000 euros of the value of real estate for married persons.

At the same time, all consumers of heating oil will buy cheaper fuel at least until the end of the year, according to the plan of the Ministry of Finance. From the start of distribution of fuel oil until December 31, 2022, fuel oil will be sold cheaper by 25 cents (20 cents + VAT) per liter after the state subsidy at the gas station. At the end of December, and depending on the oil prices that prevail in the market, a decision will be made to extend the measure in 2023.
