Spain is implementing a plan announced in June to make local and regional travel free from September 1 to December 31. Those who want to receive free gifts must register, and there are a number of time, distance and train type restrictions. But the plan is aimed at getting people to travel by train even more often in a country with great trains.

Not only in Germany, there is a super interesting plan to gather many people on a train. Spain also has a €200 million plan. Spain has over 3,600 km of high-speed lines, more than France, but they will NOT be free. However, Spain has an extensive S-Bahn network around major cities.

Free tickets can be ordered from August 24, and you can use them from September 1 until the end of the year. The discount will be in the form of a QR code in the Renfe app, a code that can be scanned at the station each time. Citizens of other countries can also get discounts.

Those who want to sign up must provide a guarantee of 10 euros, money that will be returned to the user if he makes at least 16 trips during the four months of these discounts.

Travel on Renfe Cercanías, Rodalies (Catalonia) and Media Distancia trains will be free. The guarantee will be €20 for trips made by Media Distancia trains, but are only eligible for a distance of up to 300 km.

Travel on high-speed AVE trains will NOT be free, but there will be a 50% discount for up to 100 minutes.
