THE EPZ (low-emission zones) in France is constantly being talked about: in fact, according to a recent study by the CSA institute, almost half of motorists oppose this measure, which consists in banning the oldest vehicles from driving in large French cities.

After debate in the Senate, negotiations on the ZFE continue in the National Assembly: group Unconquered Francethrough his deputy in the eighth electoral district of Hérault Sylvain Carrière has just filed the draft law on changing the rules for the application of the Federal Tax Code.

ZFE: Crit’air sticker reform proposed

LFI proposes not to cancel this unpopular measure, but to adjust it: for example, not yetalternatives to public transport, EPZ deployment will be suspended. Sylvain Carrière draws on the example of the metropolis of Montpellier, where the ZFE will cover approximately thirty municipalities in 2026, some of which are not (or very poorly) served by public transport.

The Crit’air miniature also stands out lack of efficiency and transparency. Today it is really difficult to navigate: the green sticker is awarded to electric and hydrogen vehicles, the Crit’air 1 sticker corresponds to gas cars and hybrids, as well as gasoline and 6 Euro-5 (since 2011). ), Crit’air sticker 2 applies to Euro 5 and 6 diesel vehicles (from 2011) and Euro 4 petrol vehicles (between 2006 and 2010), sticker 3 applies to Euro 4 diesel vehicles (between 2006 and 2010) and Euro 2 and 3 petrol (from 1997 to 2005), sticker 4 for Euro 3 diesel cars (from 2001 to 2005), while sticker 5 for Euro 2 diesel cars (from 1997 to 2000). Finally, all vehicles registered before 1997 cannot be classified and are automatically excluded.

The member then offers a Crit’air sticker reform integrate the analysis of the complete life cycle of the vehicle or even the weight of the thermal vehicle: the undisguised purpose of this measurement isexclude SUVswith a fine of 1300 kg.

ZFE: Inappropriate help

La France Insoumise also wishes aid to reforms which currently consist of forced fleet renewal with hard-to-get interest-free loans and wishes promote modernizationwhich consists in converting an old thermal car with an electric motor.

At this point, this reform proposal submitted by the LFI should only be taken as a hypothesis, and there is no indication whether it will be placed on the agenda of the National Assembly to become the subject of parliamentary debate, or whether it will lead to the application of real reform.
