Since the advent of information and entertainment systems fully digitized, the German firm is trying to convince on the level ergonomics on board their models. If just a few years ago, the manufacturer was one of the best in the category, then the new generations of compact models have significantly fallen at this level. But the boss volkswagenThomas Schaefer says the brand will work to improve this moment.

Modern ergonomics are impractical

Since the arrival of the new generation of compact models in the group (models after 2019, such as the ID.3, Golf 8 or Cupra Born, for example), the ergonomics on board suffer from an undeniable lack of practicality. The observation becomes even more obvious when comparing the latest Golf to the model at the beginning of the decade.

The boss of the group, interviewed by English Car Magazine journalists, claims this: the new interface suffered from many errors and other problems. These same problems also delayed the release of some models. And the observation is the same today. As we saw, for example, in the test of the latest ID.5, which uses a Golf 8 steering wheel with semi-touch keys and an 8 or 10-inch screen.

Volkswagen wants to become the best in the segment again

Therefore, Thomas Schaefer promises significant improvements. The group wants to create quick fixes so that owners are not disappointed by digital controls that bother them more than they help them, the Volkswagen executive said in particular.

To this end, the firm will soon introduce specific improvements, including, for example, a complete update of its system.

Secondly, these are semi-tactile buttons present on the steering wheels of the brand’s models, which will disappear by next year. ” Ruffles [révisés] planned for next year, the starting point will be the new Tiguan confirms T. Schaefer.
