In particular, at the suggestion of the Mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis, it was decided by an overwhelming majority to send a request to the region of Attica, as well as to any other competent authority in order to change the hours of feeding and its implementation. from 9 pm to 9 am (21.00 – 09.00).

With this new measure in place, no trucks will be able to enter the Athens Municipality during the day, effectively making life easier for the residents and workers of the center and ultimately restoring the orderly operation of the city, the statement said. from the municipality.

“We need clear solutions to the real problems that are hindering the functioning of the city. We have long pointed out the negative consequences of implementing this highly problematic schedule, which has proven to make life difficult for anyone who moves and works within Athens. From today this should change. Exceptions that cause heart attacks during daytime traffic should be removed and new store hours of 21:00 to 09:00 will be introduced, which, according to our research, will unload the center and improve movement around the city. Today, the Municipal Council has taken an important decision, which, we hope, with the good cooperation of the competent authorities, will soon be implemented,” said, among other things, Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis during his speech.

For his part, Deputy Mayor Vassilis Koromantos, in charge of the municipal police and public spaces, stated in his opening remarks that the proposal to ban loading and unloading from 9:00 to 21:00 on the one hand also covers the views of Emporikos on the other hand The Association and other bodies may also monitor the implementation of this measure.

It is noted that today the current schedule for loading and unloading goods for enterprises, supermarkets and other stores provides for a ban on feeding from 07.00. until 10:30 for trucks with a carrying capacity of more than 1.5 tons, within the ring.
