The student was slightly injured due to the retreat of the wooden cover that was installed in the area of his tent. Municipal Theater of Piraeus.
According to the President of the Organization of Culture, Sports and Youth of the Municipality of Piraeus (OANP), Josef Vourakis, who spoke to K, at a point below the level of the main stage and which was configured as a place for the orchestra, a little tree was placed for an unspecified reason as cover by the producer of a play presented at the Municipal Theatre.
He added that an additional number was put on stage by the producer without the knowledge of even the leaders of the theater.
The students of the Piraeus School of Music were at the same location on Monday afternoon for a rehearsal of a special performance. During rehearsal, two or three students stepped on an extra comma, causing it to give way.
According to information provided by Mr. Vourakis, the students suffered abrasions and some parents took their children to the hospital for further examination. Mr. Vourakis stressed that the guilty would be sought for what had happened.
In his written statement, Mr Vourakis stated:
“During the rehearsal of today’s musical performance “My Beloved Smyrna – From Smyrna to Piraeus”, organized by OPAN and Piraeus Exemplary Music Center in partnership with the Piraeus School of Music, there were technical problems, as a result of which the concert was postponed.
Unfortunately, the wrong initiative – without informing the theater management – about the transfer of the performance to the ITP and interference on the stage of the theater (staging an additional performance) led to an accident, fortunately without serious injuries.
Regardless of whether the injuries are superficial, I wish the children well and want to assure everyone, and especially the parents of the children who were in the theater at that time, that the case will be investigated and whoever is guilty of what happened will be punished accordingly.
