Intervention in the price of firewood and pellets is coming

The Ministry of Development and Investment continues to intervene on firewood and pellet prices.

As the minister said today Adonis Georgiadesthe price of both has gone up a lot.

“While the countries of Europe are trying to find alternative ways of heating this winter, wood is getting more expensive. And since there is no longer a market in Ukraine and Russia, where there was a large import of wood and pellets, this pushes prices even more,” he said in an interview with ANT1.

For this reason, a meeting with market participants will be held this week at the Ministry of Development and Investment and there will be an immediate intervention in the prices of both firewood and pellets.

“We will not allow to make money on timber because of the increase in natural gas,” the minister stressed.

Window for Fuel Pass 3 closed

Commenting on the financial measures announced at the 86th TIF by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Mr. Georgiadis added that “there is no reason to use Fuel Pass 3”.

And explained by saying: “Gasoline has fallen below 2 euros, so there is no reason to do Fuel Pass 3. The new republic of Kyriakos Mitsotakis only reduced taxes and insurance premiums. The fuel tax increase has been returned to citizens with Fuel Pass 1 and Fuel Pass 2.”

More generally regarding the course of the economy and whether new support measures are envisaged, Adonis Georgiadis said:

“I am very happy as the Minister of Development and Investment because we have a record investment record, record tourism and tourism revenues and record exports. This is the first time we have a triple record in the Greek economy since we started measuring the numbers. However, this investment record that we are achieving must somehow translate into a benefit for all Greek citizens, not just a few. This is what we are trying to do with our policy. We manage and improve our economy and return this surplus to our weaker fellow citizens and to everyone we can.”
