On the night from Friday to Saturday, Russia launched more than 31 Shahed attack drones towards Ukraine, including attacking Ukrainian ports on the Danube. According to local media, residents of Tulcea County would have received the first Ro-Alert an hour after the first explosions, but the ISU reported that there were also bombings in Ismail after that.

The Ukrainian defense system managed to intercept and destroy at least one first drone already near the Black Sea, but many went over Ukrainian territory and hit targets in Izmail and Reni, the Odesa Info channel reports, Info Tulcea writes.

The Ro-Alert system sent a warning to residents of Tulcea County only at 12:44 a.m., an hour after the first confirmed explosions, the quoted newspaper reported.

Strong explosions in the attacked ports

In social networks, residents wrote that they heard several loud explosions, Digi24.ro notes. There were also explosions in Izmail, located just a few hundred meters from Romania, but it is not yet known if there are any casualties or damage.

Daniel Nestase, spokesperson for ISU Tulcea, told Digi24 that three messages were sent overnight, the last one at around 5:00am.

“The messages were addressed to residents of the northern part of Tulcea County and the district of Galati County. After the first RO-Alert message was sent, 112 received a message from Isakcha District asking for information about what might happen. It was an informational call. “Shortly after the first report came in, there were several explosions in Ismail, near the municipality of Tulcea, where there were three or four calls until about 3 a.m.,” Daniel Nestase said.
