Ivanovets participated in combat shooting exercises in the Black Sea
The Ivanovets ship took part in live gunnery exercises in the Black Sea in July 2023 after Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative and later said all ships bound for Ukrainian ports would be considered military targets.
After that, the crew of the “Ivanovets” missile corvette of the “Tarantul-III” class launched an anti-ship cruise missile from the “Moskit” complex at a possible enemy who violated the zone temporarily closed to shipping in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
The alleged sinking of the Ivanovets comes just a month after the Russian amphibious assault ship Novocherkassk was hit by Ukrainian missiles while anchored in Feodosia in occupied Crimea.
The strike “totally destroyed” the ship, the British Ministry of Defense said.
Ukraine has repeatedly struck the Russian Black Sea Fleet since the start of the full-scale invasion, including the sinking of the flagship cruiser Moskva in April 2022 and a devastating missile strike on the fleet’s headquarters in occupied Crimea in September 2023 that reportedly killed more than 30 people. officers
Romania has repeatedly complained about Russian military incursions near the border with our country and illegal restrictions on international airspace and international waters in the northwestern Black Sea.
