The Ukrainian military has released a video taken at the front that directly contradicts President Vladimir Putin’s statements about the behavior of his military in Ukraine.

“The Russians declare: ‘We are not abandoning ours.’ The Russians act: they do not evacuate the wounded from the battlefield. This is a short story about why we shouldn’t believe ANYTHING Russia says!”, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine notes on its account on “X”, formerly Twitter, along with the shared footage:

Although the Ukrainian editors created a funny soundtrack, the footage captured the dramatic moment, showing an armored car with what appeared to be several wounded Russian servicemen on board speeding down the road with other wounded Russian soldiers of the invasion.

Two of them rise from the ground, trying to find salvation with their comrades, but the armored vehicle continues on its way without stopping. One of the soldiers runs dozens of meters behind the combat vehicle, trying to catch up with it and enter through the rear hatch. Finally, he too falls to the ground, and the car drives away.

What Putin said about leaving wounded fighters

While the post released by the Ukrainian military on Wednesday did not directly mention the Kremlin leader, it appeared to refer to comments he made earlier in December.

On the 19th of this month, he took part in a large meeting at the Ministry of Defense in Moscow, which was attended by senior officials of the security and intelligence services, to discuss the developments on the front and threats to the security of the Russian citizen. During the corresponding event, Putin also visited the Ministry’s National Defense Management Center, which is headed by Sergei Shoigu.

“We have to take care of our guys. We cannot behave like those puppet leaders in Ukraine, who simply leave their wounded in Krynyk (a town in the Kherson region, where the fighting took place at the time), leaving them to fend for themselves,” he said, taking a gift of a new kit for soldiers wounded at the front.

“They don’t even consider them to be their own people,” Putin also said about the alleged attitude of the Kyiv leadership towards soldiers wounded at the front.

During events he attended on December 19 with military leaders in Moscow, Putin also suggested that he was ready to negotiate with Ukraine to end the conflict, but only if it took “Russia’s national interests” into account.

“And all of us together, and I in particular, will go to the end, defending the interests of the country,” he emphasized.
