Ukraine planned “another provocation” with the use of Western-made poisonous substances in order to accuse Russia of using chemical weapons, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday, TASS cites.
She made the comment after declaring for the first time in her daily press briefing that there was in fact no mass killing by Russian forces in Buch in the first weeks of the war in Ukraine.
“There is nothing about Bucha: no name, no date of birth, no passport data, he simply does not exist. They weren’t there because everything was a challenge,” she accused.
“The Kyiv regime planned something similar this time as well. It is possible to organize another anti-Russian provocation with the use of Western-made poisonous substances, in order to then start a new campaign in the UN and the world media accusing our country of the alleged deliberate use of chemical weapons,” she said. added
Zakharova noted that, “according to available information”, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) “is actively involved in the preparation of such a provocation” and actively works in this direction with the Ukrainian company Realab, which is based in Kyiv.
“Specializes in the import of chemical reagents and precursors. Through this company, in October-November of this year, a so-called small batch of triethanolamine and a sodium compound containing nitrogen, produced by the American company Honeywell Research Chemicals in Germany, was purchased. The company is American, located in the city of Selz,” she added.
“Russian experts” fear that Ukraine will use chemical weapons on the front
The spokeswoman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation also noted that the use of triethanolamine on the battlefield is prohibited by the UN Convention on Chemical Weapons.
“This compound is a precursor for the synthesis of a toxic substance of dispersive action, namely, nitrogen mustard (n.r. mustard). Sodium compounds containing nitrogen are very toxic, their harmful effect is similar to that of cyanide, Zakharova continued.
“According to Russian experts, these chemical substances can be used by the SBU for the production of combat poisons with the aim of conducting a provocative action on a limited scale in the territory under the control of the Kyiv regime in the area of the village of actions of our troops,” continued Zakharova’s accusation.
While this is not the first time Russia has accused Ukraine of preparing a chemical “provocation” or “dirty bomb,” Zakharova’s new accusations on Wednesday came amid growing reports that the Russian military has begun using weapons-grade chemicals in parts of Ukraine. the front
Russia signed the UN Convention on the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in 1993 and ratified it in 1997.
