Ukrainian troops “prove every day that Ukraine can win” against Russia, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday at the beginning of a meeting with his American counterpart Joe Biden in the Oval Office, AFP reports.

The President of Ukraine is welcomed at the White House after a visit to Congress, where Republicans are blocking the continuation of US military aid.

Ending US aid to Ukraine will be a “Christmas present” for Vladimir Putin, President Joe Biden and Zelensky warned on Tuesday.

“We will be with you,” the US leader told his Ukrainian counterpart during a meeting in the Oval Office at a time when Congress is divided over additional funds the White House is requesting for Kyiv.

As Sky News reports, at a meeting in the Oval Office, US President Joe Biden told his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyi that he did not want him to “lose hope” that the US Congress would unblock additional military aid to Ukraine.

Biden also announced the allocation of $200 million in separate military aid to Kyiv.
