In a video released by Ukrainian Telegram channel DeepState on Saturday, a group of Russian soldiers kill two Ukrainians as they emerge from a trench. One of the two had his hands on the back of his head.
The Prosecutor’s Office of the Donetsk region has started an investigation into the violation of the rules and customs of war. Killing prisoners of war is a violation of the Geneva Convention and is a war crime.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Russian troops captured Ukrainian positions near the village of Stepove in the Donetsk region. When two Ukrainian soldiers were forced to surrender, Russian soldiers shot them.
The DeepState Telegram channel reported that the military is serving in the 45th EMS Brigade of Ukraine.
The Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk, also condemned the “shooting of the Ukrainian military by the Russians”
“This is another crime committed by Russian terrorists. Violation of the rules of warfare. Killing unarmed soldiers. Russia has once again proven that it is a terrorist country for which there are no laws and norms of international law,” he added in a post on the X platform.
