Thus, Putin will hold direct talks with Western leaders for the first time in recent months during this summit, which will be held online, Russian media reports, writes Agerpres.

Russia was represented at the G20 summit in New Delhi at the beginning of September by Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhii Lavrov.

Western members of the G20 have sought to isolate Russia since its invasion of Ukraine last February and have imposed sanctions on Russian raw material exports, although this has had little effect on Russian policy.

India is handing over the G20 presidency to Brazil at the end of this month.
