The US announced on Friday new military aid to Ukraine worth 425 million dollars, consisting mainly of air defense equipment, AFP and Agerpres reported.
The new aid was approved by the US Congress in late September and “exhausts currently available funds,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
The aid also includes $125 million worth of artillery ammunition, anti-tank weapons and small-caliber ammunition.
It also includes $300 million in laser-guided missiles funded through the Ukraine Security Assistance Program, through which Washington supplies it through the military industry or its partners, rather than directly from stockpiles.
The United States is the largest donor of military aid to Ukraine, with a total of $44.2 billion since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. But some elected Republicans oppose the continuation of US military support for Ukraine, AFP reminds.
