A new video posted on social media by the Ukrainian armed forces shows how their troops managed to destroy a column of Russian armored vehicles more than 30 kilometers behind the front line in the Zaporizhia region in southern Ukraine.

The attack was carried out by the Ukrainian special forces, the footage shows how several vehicles of the Russian army are being destroyed one by one. Administrators of the OSINTTechnical page note that the strike destroyed at least 5 Soviet BMPs, two trucks and a Russian camouflaged field ammunition depot on the edge of the forest.

A slightly extended version of the footage shows how Ukrainian drone operators captured some armored personnel carriers “parked” by Russian crews next to each other, which is always a bad idea, regardless of the conflict zone:

The filming was done tens of kilometers behind the front line in the Zaporizhzhia region, where the military command in Kyiv threw the main forces to participate in the Kyiv summer offensive operation.

A new gesture of negligence by Russian soldiers

Judging by the images, the Russian vehicle stopped in the forest to refuel/ammunition. However, the carelessness of a part of the Moscow military in stopping vehicles next to each other seems incomprehensible, given the fact that since last year, the Ukrainian army has at its disposal several weapon systems capable of hitting targets dozens of kilometers behind the front.

A possible explanation could be that they did not expect to be hit here, since most of the Ukrainian strikes with such weapons seem to have been concentrated in the south of the country on the front lines of the Russian army’s defenses, and less on the “wall”. operations, that is, attacks that reduce the possibility of replenishment of troops on the front line.

Instead, such attacks were typical of Ukrainian forces’ operations against Russian forces in the Kherson region last fall, before they retreated from the west bank of the Dnieper.

In this case, however, the attack on Russian forces appears to have been carried out by Excalibur missiles rather than HIMARS mobile missile launchers, although this is not entirely clear.

But what stands out in the new video is that the Ukrainian attack was coordinated from a drone dozens of kilometers behind the front line, even though the Russian military appears to have outmatched the Ukrainians in the electronic warfare systems used to deploy the drones. out of order
